Whats Next (#5)

What's next is a weekly meme hosted by Icey Books so that you guys can help me decide what to read next!!!

Title: What's Left of Me
Author: Kat Zhang
Overview: Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t . . .

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable-hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet . . . for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything
Title: Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2)
Author: Richelle Mead
Overview: Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price

Title: Fallen
Author: Lauren Kate
Overview: There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce – he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret...even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, FALLEN is a page-turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

Review (5): Vampire Academy by RIchelle Mead

Title: Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1)
Author: Richelle Mead
Rating: 4.5/5
Overview: St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever

Well, I've put off this series for a heck of a long time because I was scared that it was going to be one of those lame vampire series.  But let me tell you, I was way wrong.  This first book of this series had my heart pumping and my eyes tearing up.

I loved that Rose was the narrator.  Rose is a such a strong willed character and she keeps the book going with her recklessness at some points.  She was so easy to connect to in a lot of ways and I love the depths her and Lissa will go through to protect each other.  Lissa and Rose are the epitome of best friends.

Lissa is such a sweet character and you can't help but love her.  She is so vulnerable but at the same time oh so powerful.  It's true when they say opposites attract because that is exactly what Rose and Lissa are, opposites.

This book was so action packed and I loved all the different events that happen throughout the book.  But, lets just say the near the end of the book, I did get a little teary eyed :/

And Dimitri, oh gosh, Dimitri.  My heart was pounding everytime he came into the scene.  Gosh, he is so swoonworthy.

This book sucked me in and definitely wouldn't let go.  I would recommend this book to anyone! It was so great and I cannot WAIT to start the nest one!

Review (4): The Calling by Kelley Armstrong

Title: The Calling (Darkness Rising #2)
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Rating: 4.5/5
Overview: Maya Delaney's paw-print birthmark is the mark of what she truly is -a skin-walker. She can run faster, climb higher, and see better than nearly everyone else. Experiencing intense connections with the animals that roam the woods outside her home, Maya knows it's only a matter of time before she's able to Shift and become one of them. And she believes there may be others in her small town with surprising talents.

Now Maya and her friends have been forced to flee from their homes during a forest fire they suspect was deliberately set. Then they're kidnapped, and after a chilling helicopter crash, they find themselves in the Vancouver Island wilderness with nothing but their extraordinary abilities to help them get back home.

In THE CALLING, the sizzling second book in the Darkness Rising trilogy,New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong pumps up the romance, danger, and suspense that left readers of THE GATHERING clamoring for more

The cliffhanger of book #1 was utterly too much to bear and I could NOT wait to get my hands on the second.  This book definitely didn't disappoint.

The action picked up right where we left off and I fell right back into the story.  The first third of the book was so action packed, but then I felt in the middle it just sort of died. But I am pleased to say that the action picked right back up at the end, and yet again, leaving me with another cliffhanger!!! GAHH!

I just love Maya.  She is so genuine and I think that is why I am drawn to the book.  She's honestly one of the best main characters that I have read about.  Daniel and Rafe are still so sweet and swoon worthy in the book.  There were so many times that I was wishing I was Maya

But they were also so many times I wished I wasn't.  The hardships and unknowingness they have to experience throughout the forest is unbelieveable.  There we so many times I wanted to shout at them to not do what they were doing.

I think that Maya and them might have the wrong idea about people that are chasing them.  But I don't want to give any spoilers away.  Let's just say that I don't think these people are as bad as Maya thinks that they are.

We find out a lot about all the different characters and why these people are after them.  A lot of the relationships between characters evolve and we get to know a lot of them more.

I definitely think that this book was sort of like a filter between books 1 and 3.  I think much of the larger action will take place in book 3 and I cannot wait! April please come soon!!!!!!
